    Jon Frankel , DDS

Okay, unless you have never needed one, you might not be excited. Sometimes a tooth needs a root canal and you would never know it. But, if you have ever had severe dental pain alleviated by a root canal, you are ready to celebrate all week long.

Emergencies are seen the same day at Frankel Dentistry

    Root Canal Awareness Week
Do you need one? Find out!
A root canal is a dental treatment used to repair and save a tooth that may be infected or decayed. Your teeth are composed of many layers including an outer layer of enamel, a second layer called dentin and the inner layer called the pulp. In the pulp layer of your tooth, there are nerves that run through a canal and into the root tip.

A deep cavity or tooth fracture may cause a bacterial infection in the canal which can create a lot of pressure and discomfort. An x-ray of the tooth will allow for the dentist to see if there is an infection.
Is the treatment of a root canal really painful? Patients have reported the procedure is no more painful than having a filling done. Generally, the entire procedure can be completed in just one visit. The dentist will simply clean out the infected canal and fill it with a biologically inert substance. The canal will be sealed and your tooth ready to go!
To help prevent future infections, it’s important to maintain good oral health and regular dental visits to help identify and prevent any future issues.
Don’t wait any longer! If you think you may need a root canal or want to come in for a free consultation, call our office today! Our office is happy to perform a free benefits check to help you understand your coverage.

Do you have a missing tooth or teeth you’d like to have replaced, but not sure where to start?  Not sure what dental implants are and if they are right for you?

First of all – dental implants are artificial tooth roots that are surgically placed into your jaw that will hold replacement teeth.

Dental implants provide many advantages including improved oral health, easier time eating, improved self esteem and durability.

Worried about the pain? Don’t worry — patients have reported there is very little discomfort involved with this type of procedure. A local anesthetic may be used to make patients comfortable and just am over-the-counter pain reliever may be needed after the procedure.
How to I care for dental implants? Easy – just like brushing your own, natural teeth. You will still need to brush, floss and come in for regular check-ups.
If you think you may be a candidate for implants, contact Frankel Dentistry , today to make an appointment for an evaluation.

  4. Spring Sports Guards

You wouldn’t play football without a helmet right? Of course not, the referees wouldn’t even let you take the field! It ridiculous to think of a soccer player without shin guards, or a hockey player without pads. We don’t even question the reasons why this protective gear is necessary – so why do we question or ignore the need to wear a mouth guard?

According to the Academy for Sports Dentistry, anyone participating in a contact or collision sport will benefit from a properly fitted and properly worn mouth guard. Also, individual competitors that are at risk, such as skateboarders, snowboarders, and other similar activities should always wear a mouth guard! This Spring Season, ensure you are protected with a sports guard from Frankel Dentistry.

Picture this: You’ve led your team to state, the fans and media are rushing the field to congratulate you and in every photo you have a massive chipped tooth from that defender that plowed you in the first quarter. GROSS. While that may be a badge of honor, wouldn’t you rather show off your big, beautiful, pearly white smile to remember the moment forever? If you had been wearing a proper sports guard, that chipped tooth may have been avoided!

Celebrate the win with a grin – not a grimace!
