It’s not every day that Glinda from the Broadway show Wicked comes into Frankel Dentistry for treatment.

Formerly on Broadway as Glinda (understudy) in Wicked and Lysistrata (standby) in Lysistrata Jones on Broadway, Libby Servais ‘ smile is very important to her career. She doesn’t trust her smile to anyone other than Frankel Dentistry.

But don’t take it for us, listen to Libby’s testimonial below:

Libby grew up in Maumee, Ohio and graduated from Baldwin-Wallace Conservatory of Music. On June 1st, she began performing in “Broadway Under the Stars” concert series at Transcendence Theatre Company in San Francisco, California.

Aside from Wicked and Lysistrata Jones, Libby also toured nationally with Wicked (Glinda understudy) and regionally with Legally Blonde (Elle Woods), Elf (Jovie), 1776 (Martha), Hairspray (Amber), Pride and Prejudice (Georgiana), Sideshow (Violet) and Company (Susan).

Check out Libby singing “Where Am I Now” from Lysistrata Jones in this video! She is extremely talented!

  2. On January 15, 2010, Romel Joseph, a professional violinist, arrived at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida after being severely injured in the devastating Haiti earthquake. For more than 18 hours, Mr. Joseph was trapped under the rubble of his music school before being rescued. With both legs shattered and an arm broken in the earthquake, Mr. Joseph spent three months recovering in the hospital, with beliefs that he would never play the violin again.

Romel’s life has been extremely difficult. Despite being blind since a young age, Mr. Joseph continues to work tirelessly for the children of Haiti through the gift of music.

Recently, Mr. Joseph was in Toledo as part of the Friends of Music Education for Haiti fundraiser. While on the flight to Toledo, his filling fell out, causing him pain. His first visit to an American dental office was to Frankel Dentistry.

We would like to share a brief excerpt from a very heart-warming letter we received by Romel’s friend, Cecilia Johnson, thanking us for the services we provided to Mr. Joseph. Being able to help people who are in need is  just one of the reasons we love what we do!

    Friends of Haiti

I want to sent a huge ‘Thank You’ for helping my friend, Romel Joseph, who was in the area fundraising for his Haitian school and music program. Your willingness to take a look at him on such short notice and to provide him a temporary filling and an X-Ray to take home free of  charge was a gift that filled my heart beyond description.”

Now fully recovered, the Julliard graduate is thankful to be able to play the violin once again. Now sit back, relax, and enjoy the beauty of  Romel Joseph playing the violin.

  5. Needing her wisdom teeth removed, Amanda first came to Dr. Frankel’s office two years ago.  Immediately upon walking into the Talmadge Road office, she loved everything about it. From the girls up front to her hygienist, Jess, her entire experience was nothing short of amazing. Even two  years later, every time she visits her Frankel Family, she feels extremely comfortable.

Amanda is a 2009 graduate of Sylvania Northview High School. She attended the University of Toledo where she majored in psychology. She enjoys reading and traveling. Today, she works in a small office doing secretarial work as well as nannies for three young children.

  6. 10 year old Cimram and 7 year Siona are sisters who attend Maumee Valley Day School. Aside from school, they enjoy playing piano, field hockey, and basketball. But more importantly, these two love Dr. Frankel! Watch them in action as they sing our jingle!

  7. Not only is Charles Buckner part of the Frankel Family, he is a first generation techie. Born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Charlie served our country as a member of the Airforce from 1954-1958,  spending time in Japan, Germany, and Turkey. After his military duties were served, Charlie attended Trine University in Angola, Indiana on the Korean GI Bill. At Trine University he majored in Engineering because he knew that those jobs were in high demand.

After receiving his degree, Charlie and his young family moved to the Baltimore, Maryland area. During the mid 1960s, Charlie worked on the Saturn Launch Vehicle, which helped propel the spaceships that were part of the Apollo Moon Program.  Additionally, he worked for Control Data Computer Corporation which was a super computer firm that competed with IBM, Honeywell, and RCA during the 1960s and 1970s. While working for Control Data, Charlie helped engineer the first computerized reading machine. Charlie also worked for Westinghouse in Baltimore.

After retiring, Charlie and his wife, who is an artist, moved to Denver, Colorado. Now, however, Charlie and his wife live in Toledo. They moved here to be closer to his daughter and their family. And we are glad he is here and a member of our Frankel Dentistry Family!

  8. Each year the national magazine, The Root, recognizes young African American men and women who are forging a path for future greatness. These young people are recommended by teachers, mentors, advisers, employers, and associates. They are all between the ages of 16 and 22 and have been distinguished in areas of social activism and justice, enterprise and corporate innovation, science and technology, green innovation, and arts and culture.

This year, Frankel Patient, Jelani (James) Young, has been recognized as a Young Futurist.

James was born with the urge to change lives one smile at a time. He was nominated by a family friend because of his community service efforts and strong academic success. Since a young age, James has been a member of Toledo Excel, which is a group of students that focuses on civil rights, human rights, and leadership. When James was 9, this group traveled to South Africa. Here James helped a struggling adoption agency and his eyes were opened. He discovered that people from other countries could live so comfortably and happily but with so much less than what Americans possess. This trip inspired him to continue to give back to the Toledo community. Today, you can find the 16-year-old volunteering at local food banks and clothes give-a-ways, helping the needy and homeless.

James also has time to be a normal teenager. He attends St. John’s High School where he is a member of the track team. He is very dedicated to his track career and trains with another Frankel Patient and UT Hall of Famer, Dorian Hooker at ProDay Training Center. (You can read about Dorian Hooker by clicking here- http://toledodentistnews.com/patient-profile/jon-frankel-dentistry-patient-and-university-of-toledo-hall-of-famer-dorian-hooker-knows-speed/ ) He is also inspired by Jesse Owens, the Ohio State and Olympic track star that overcame racial objection and achieved international fame.

In the future James looks to continue his social activism efforts. He is currently examining possible colleges with Michigan State University and the University of Kentucky topping the list. He hopes to study sports management or psychology, but has aspirations to continue volunteering in the community and may begin counseling.

James is truly honored to be recognized as a Young Futurist, and believes that it has rejuvenated his desires to reach his dreams. “This is the biggest thing that has ever happened to me,” he said.

Once recognized in the online publication, the real contest begins. The Young Futurist with the most social media following receives a $500 scholarship. Therefore, to help James win, you must do your part by clicking on the link and encouraging your friends and family to also click by sharing it on your page. There are less than two weeks left. After wearing braces for five years, Aly is proud of her smile and ensures its health by visiting Frankel Dentistry twice a year. “I love going to Dr. Frankel’s office, everyone is so friendly. At my last visit, I was in and out in a half hour. It was great!” Aly said.

This local beauty grew up in Sylvania, attended The University of Toledo, and is currently working in the marketing department at Promedica.

Aside from working, Aly enjoys working out at Wildwood Athletic Club, hanging out with her friends, and watching reality TV, especially Fashion Police and The Bachelorette.

  10. Bailie1

Anyone who has visited our office since the expansion has seen this beautiful photo hanging on the wall. Bailie is currently a student at Miami University of Ohio, where she is studying marketing with hopes of pursuing a career in pharmaceutical and medical sales.

But Bailie has a more interesting story. During her senior year of high school, Bailie traveled to LA to compete in a national dance competition. While there, she noticed that the LA Laker Girls were holding open auditions. Bailie decided that this was her calling and, surprisingly, she made the team. After her high school graduation, Bailie moved to LA and performed at the LA Laker games throughout the 2010-2011 season. While living in LA, Bailie also had the opportunity to dance in a Panic at the Disco music video.

Bailie has been a patient of Frankel Dentistry her entire life. Her father and Dr. Frankel went to high school together. Today, being in school, Bailie is sure to get her dental check-ups in when she is home on break.
