As a marketing and advertising specialist I understand what the essence of a brand entails. And how the patient experience makes all the difference between gaining an advocate of your brand or a critic. Dr. Frankel an his team are doing everything right. Beyond the excellent care people have come to expect, the entire staff is pleasant, informative, comforting and excellent at what they do. They pay attention to all the details, so you don’t have to, which makes your experience that much more enjoyable.

  1. Jason DiTerlizzi and Brittany Begin

Jason Di Terlizzi has recently been accepted into two dental schools, Indiana University School of Dentistry and Case School of Dental Medicine – Care Western Reserve University. Which isn’t at all surprising to the staff working with him at Jon Frankel Dentistry and Frankel and Puhl of Maumee. Jason is vital to both offices practicing as a Registered Dental Hygienist and Expanded Function Dental Assistant. Additionally, Frankel Dentistry has a history of “keeping it in the family”.

Sheldon Frankel, DDS began practicing dentistry in 1947. His son Jon Frankel, DDS joined him in 1992. Dr. Sheldon Frankel has since retired but a brother-in-law and two nephews are dentists, his daughter and a sister-law are hygienists. Associate Dentist Richard Shumate is married to a dentist, Dr. Kristen Shumate. Patti Begin, RDH from the Maumee location also has been an inspiration to Jason, he dates her daughter Brittany. There is undoubtedly a trend here.

Jon Frankel Dentistry is a nurturing and caring dental family for patients and staff located in Toledo, Ohio and Maumee, Ohio.

  1. Toledo, Ohio

The Halloween Candy Buy-Back is an annual event at Jon Frankel Dentistry.

Children receive one dollar for each pound of candy donated. The candy is sent to local Toledo Area Troops overseas.

This year many children donated candy but refused payment. They wanted to send their candy to our Troops. The compassion was palpable. Halloween took on a new meaning, caring.

    Where did the candy go?

Follow the candy-trail evidenced in a series of recent notes.

Note from Toledo Mother of Marine overseas:

I wanted to share with Dr. Frankel and his staff a message that I just received from the coordinator of our care package project. I will be coming in to your office again in a few minutes to pick up another 60 pounds of candy. We will be packing Christmas boxes on Monday, December 5, so this additional supply of candy will be added to those care packages. Thanks again to Dr. Frankel and his staff for contributing to our boxes!

    Note from care package coordinator:

I received this email from a dear friend over the Thanksgiving weekend. My college friend (who has been a Chaplain in the Army for 20+ years) has a husband in the Army Corps of Engineers who has recently been deployed to Afghanistan for a year. She received a phone call from her husband Friday morning (11/25) with the following comments. It’s directed to our great group of parents who care so much…and yes, that Halloween candy helped! It’s nice to know the packages made it so quickly! Our biggest box was almost 12 lbs., per the Post Office.

Thanks to Dr. Frankel’s office for their generosity!

    Note from my friend:

“My husband called me this morning to ask, “who’d you give my name to that would send me a care package?” He was so touched by your kindness and that of your group. I could hear it in his voice—that someone/group would care about his service. He’s already shared the candy which allowed him to meet a bunch of people! He loved the idea of a thanksgiving meal, too! He hasn’t gone thru the other things yet but he was pretty excited. But the thing that stood out was how touched he was by the thoughtfulness and kindness.

So, thanks for ministering to my husband and subsequently to me. I know that this gift will do far more than just the physical…the warmth will linger for a long time!”

  1. Local Dentist Takes a Stand against Sweets this Halloween

    TOLEDO, OHIO – What’s a ghost’s favorite candy? BOO-ble gum!

One area dentist is redefining the phrase “put your money where your mouth is.” This Halloween, trick-or-treaters can bring their excess candy to Jon Frankel Dentistry’s Talmadge Road and Keystone Drive locations and receive $1.00 per pound. Dr Frankel is leading this anti-decay movement by giving away dollars and toothbrushes in exchange for cavity-provoking candy.

“Ditch the candy, that’s what we’re saying. Visiting your dentist twice a year and brushing daily are great preventative measures, but doing away with excess sweets altogether would really give your teeth a healthy boost,” says Dr. Jon Frankel. “Kids can still have all of the fun of trick-or-treating, and now their piggy banks will benefit as well.

Global sugar consumption for kids increases by about 2% annually and currently sits at 50 million tons per year, which means parents need to be sure their kids teeth are being cared for more than ever. Candy, as well as hurting children’s teeth, can lead to hyperactivity and weight gain. In some cases, the wrong types of candy can also lead to broken teeth and damaged braces.

Candy will be collected at Jon Frankel Dentistry at 5012 Talmadge Road, Toledo, Ohio the day after Halloween, Tuesday, November 1st from 3:00 p.m. until 7 p.m. and 4359 Keystone Drive, Maumee, Ohio 43537 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. The candy must be unopened. It will then be shipped to Toledo Area Troops overseas.

Jon Frankel Dentistry emphasizes general family dental care as well as cosmetic procedures. Dr. Frankel is available to provide more information at 419-474-9611, j.frankel@jonfrankeldentistry.com. or on-line at www.jonfrankeldentistry.com.

A great education is just around the corner for the Staff at Jon Frankel Dentistry.  Ziad Tohme, DMD, local periodontist, offers accredited, scholarly yet fun and engaging courses in a beautifully appointed classroom at his Toledo, Ohio periodontal office.

A natural teacher, practitioner and scholar, Dr. Tohme generously offers a variety of courses. The dental professionals at Jon Frankel Dentistry have been to several classes and plan to continue to expand their knowledge and to “learn local”.

  1. The Toledo Dental Office of  Jon Frankel buzzes with enthusiasm and caring. Each patient receives the doctor’s personal cell phone number and he personally calls all new patients to welcome them before their first visit. It may be a mystery how he finds the time but it is no surprise his Office Staff share the gift of caring.

Gifts arrive unexpectedly and often. A cup of hot spiced tea, a box of chocolates or holiday decorations show up at Staff Member’s desk or dental operatory. The identity of the gift giver is hidden but the resultant happiness can be evidenced throughout the office.

Generosity is silent but hidden behind each gift is the recognition that one is appreciated and valued.  No small thing.
