  2. Taking care of your pet’s oral health is an important part of their overall well-being. A healthy mouth, promotes a healthy body! Just like humans, pets can suffer from a variety of dental issues, including plaque, tartar, and periodontal disease, if their oral health isn’t properly maintained.

First, let’s talk about why pet oral health is so important. Not only can poor oral health lead to bad breath, but it can also create a number of other problems for your pet. For instance, bacteria can easily enter the bloodstream through the gums and cause infections in other organs. This can lead to a variety of illnesses and can even be life-threatening. That’s why it’s so important to practice good oral hygiene for your pet.

Let’s talk about how to keep your pet’s mouth clean and healthy. One of the best ways to do this is by brushing your pet’s teeth regularly. You can purchase special pet toothbrushes and toothpaste at most pet stores. It’s also important to feed your pet a healthy, balanced diet and give them plenty of chew toys. This will help remove plaque and prevent tartar buildup.

Finally, it’s also important to take your pet to the vet for regular checkups. While Frankel Dentistry does not care for animals, your vet can check your pet’s teeth and gums to make sure they are healthy and can provide advice on the best way to maintain your pet’s oral hygiene! Let’s help your best friend have a lifetime of healthy, happy smiles!

We’ve said it time and time again but a healthy mouth promotes a healthy body! The same goes for the pets you love! Good oral hygiene is an important part of your pet’s overall health and well-being.

  3. Back to school season is finally here! Frankel Dentistry wants to help your little ones start the year with a healthy, happy smile. Taking care of your smile goes beyond just cleaning your teeth and regular dental visits, it’s important to watch what you’re putting into your body!

Here are some healthy back to school snacks to help promote dental health!

    • Apples, Celery, and Carrots! Did you know crunchy fruit and vegetables can help clean your teeth by removing plaque from the enamel? Not only do they clean your teeth but also provide you with vitamins and minerals to support your body.

Some of our favorite classic snacks include apple slices or celery with peanut butter. Carrots and other crunchy vegetables always pair great with hummus.

    • Milk, cheese, and yogurt. Dairy products are a great source of calcium, which helps repair enamel and strengthen bones which support your teeth. Cheese and yogurt are also rich in vitamin D and phosphate which create lower acid levels and reduce the risk of tooth decay.
    • Nuts and seeds! Almonds, peanuts, sunflower seeds and more are a great source of healthy fats, vitamin D, folic acid and not to mention one of the best sources of protein.
    • Thinking about what to drink? Water.

Encourage your little ones to drink more water daily! Water helps hydrate your organs and muscle, balance pH levels in the mouth, and increase saliva production which means less tooth decay and stronger tooth enamel.

  4. June is Men’s Health Awareness Month and Frankel Dentistry is spreading awareness and encouraging healthy habits. Did you know over 350,000 men die every year from heart disease? And only 3 out 5 have regular physicals. Believe it or not, your oral health is connected to your health! This is why we always say a Healthy Mouth Promotes a Healthy Body! Oral health is often overlooked but did you know there are currently 3.6 billion individuals struggling with oral diseases?

Your mouth is typically a good indicator of your overall well-being. Individuals with periodontal disease have the same risk factors as those with heart disease. Diseases such as diabetes, stroke, heart disease, and Alzthemiers can all be connected to oral health. Frankel Dentistry wants to see you live a healthy, happy life with smiles to share for years to come. How can you make sure you’re practicing a healthy lifestyle?

Here are some heart healthy habits to help encourage a healthy lifestyle!

    1. A healthy diet.

Limit your fat and sodium consumption! Highly fat foods are known to increase your risk of heart disease or stroke. This is because fatty foods increase cholesterol which lead to high blood pressure, build up in the blood, clogged arteries, and more.

A heart healthy diet includes whole grains, fruits and vegetables, lean proteins, and limit processed foods.

    1. Exercise!

30 minutes a few days a week is all you need! Cardio exercises such as walking, running, cycling, or exercise classes all help strengthen your heart. Find a form of exercise you love and will look forward to!

    1. DENTAL CARE

As you know a healthy mouth promotes a healthy body! Studies have shown bacteria in the mouth creates plaque which can move into the bloodstream and increase your risk for diabetes, stroke, and more. Remember to brush twice a day for at least two minutes, floss regularly, and schedule your recare appointments!

    1. Quality rest.

Quality sleep is essential to your health and well-being. Sleep allows your heart to rest as well as improve blood pressure and heart rate. We recommend a 7-8 hours of quality rest a night.

  5. National Smile Power Day

Smile! It is good for you.

June 15th is National Smile Power Day! Smiling is such a simple act that has a lot of health benefits. Here are some reasons why you should be smiling not just today but every day.

    Reduces stress

You have probably heard about the negative effects that stress causes your body. Smiling is a great way to reduce that harmful feeling. By forcing yourself to smile you are telling your body to release endorphins. These are the body’s natural feel-good chemicals that tell our body to be in less pain. So the next time you are feeling stressed out or overwhelmed, just remember to smile!

    Lowers blood pressure

As you just read, endorphins are our natural feel-good chemicals that can reduce our stress levels. When we are stressed, our blood pressure rises and can cause damage to our bodies. The physical act of smiling causing our endorphins to rise which can lower one’s blood pressure. Maintaining a healthy blood pressure level can lead to an overall healthy body. Keep smiling and keep that blood pressure down.

    Makes us attractive

People are drawn to a natural smile. It creates an open and positive feeling that is inviting to others. When we don’t smile we can look tired or worn out, making us seem unapproachable. Put a smile on and test it for yourself.

    Makes us feel happy

The physical act of smiling tricks our brains into thinking we are happy. The muscles involved with this action tell our brain that humor is occurring which can then create actual feelings of happiness. Even a forced smile tells our brain to be happy. So the next time you are feeling down, slap on a smile because your brain won’t know the difference.

Smiling is a powerful tool. It can affect our mental health by sending a message to our brain and letting us know that “Everything is okay.” Our physical health can be improved with this simple action. Make smiling apart of your daily routine and see all the different benefits that it can have on your body.
