It’s not every day that Glinda from the Broadway show Wicked comes into Frankel Dentistry for treatment.

Formerly on Broadway as Glinda (understudy) in Wicked and Lysistrata (standby) in Lysistrata Jones on Broadway, Libby Servais ‘ smile is very important to her career. She doesn’t trust her smile to anyone other than Frankel Dentistry.

But don’t take it for us, listen to Libby’s testimonial below:

Libby grew up in Maumee, Ohio and graduated from Baldwin-Wallace Conservatory of Music. On June 1st, she began performing in “Broadway Under the Stars” concert series at Transcendence Theatre Company in San Francisco, California.

Aside from Wicked and Lysistrata Jones, Libby also toured nationally with Wicked (Glinda understudy) and regionally with Legally Blonde (Elle Woods), Elf (Jovie), 1776 (Martha), Hairspray (Amber), Pride and Prejudice (Georgiana), Sideshow (Violet) and Company (Susan).

Check out Libby singing “Where Am I Now” from Lysistrata Jones in this video! She is extremely talented!

  1. Just because we have been named the Best of Toledo, doesn’t mean that we stop trying to improve in all areas of care. From the doctors to assistants, hygienists and front desk, our staff loves what they do. In order to keep our services the best, however, we too need additional training.

On May 14th through May 15th, the staff at both Frankel Dentistry of Toledo and Frankel and Puhl Dentistry of Maumee took part in an advanced training seminar with the Scheduling Institute in Atlanta, Georgia.

During the afternoon of May 14th,  50 staff members left the Toledo office to head to the Airport and catch a plane to Atlanta. For some, it was their first time flying. Despite a long flight delay and some time to bond with fellow employees over a few cocktails, we arrived in Atlanta and were treated to a wonderful dinner at Alma Cocina, whose chef is renowned as one of the best in the Atlanta area.

That evening we resided at the Gateway Marriott near the Airport. Early that morning, the entire staff, dressed in matching Red “U” t-shirts, walked across the street to the Scheduling Institute. The seminar lasted the entire day and was extremely informative and fantastic. Each employee brought home a list of how they can better improve their work within the office.

Here is what a few of our employees had to say about the trip:

Irene: “I loved being able to collaborate with other offices around the country and exchange ideas.”

Dani: “The discussions about the morning meeting are going to help increase our overall productivity in all areas of our office.”

Courtney: “Besides the food, I loved all the hands on activities while in the seminar. It really brought everything they were suggesting to life.”

Mel: “I loved getting to know our co-workers outside of the office.”

Mary Ann: “The Kolbe (an index that describes the way you problem solve) was my favorite part. I think it is fascinating to learn about myself and other members of my team. By knowing this, we will be able to problem solve better in the future.”

Brittany: “I loved the experience of the entire office going together to get high level training by a strong, national company like the Scheduling Institute. Thank You Dr. Frankel and Dr. Puhl!”

Pamela: “It was great to get outside of the office to evaluate and observe areas where we can improve Frankel Dentistry. Additionally, the Scheduling Institute has great systems that will keep us accountable that our systems are in office are in place and working properly.”

Danielle (Hygienist): “The two offices rarely get to bond. This trip gave us the chance to really get to know one another and improve the camaraderie between both offices.”

Shawna: “The seminar at the Scheduling Institute gave the Frankel Dentistry team a singular goal to work toward in order to greatly improve the services we provide.”

Marie: “It was great to spend time outside of the office, collaborating with one another on ways that our office can become better. This type of brainstorming and bonding helps.”

Chris: “It was nice for both offices to be together, receiving valuable continuing education that we can implement at our offices.”

  1. Who truly understands their insurance? What is fully covered? What is partially covered? How much will you have to pay out of pocket?

Luckily, we have an amazing employee at Frankel Dentistry. Her name is Jackie and she is our very own insurance specialist, who verifies new insurance and updates all insurance records that are two years or older. So, when you have insurance questions or need to know how to maximize your benefits, we send your case to Jackie, who helps you get the most for your money.

This week Jackie celebrates her third year anniversary as a Frankel Dentistry employee. She originally began working in the Maumee office, then she began balancing a schedule where she worked at both the Toledo office and Maumee office, and as of October of 2013, she has been full time at the Toledo office.

Jackie loves her job, and has said, “It is awesome being behind the scene, knowing that I am still helping our patients.”

Like many of our office members who have relatives working at the office, Jackie’s daughter-in-law, Courtney, is also a Frankel Dentistry employee, who specializes in RECARE and other front desk duties. photo 4

Outside of the office, Jackie enjoys watching her granddaughter, Macy; gardening; working out; and being at home with her husband and three dogs Princess, Pixie, and Daisy.

Frankel Dentistry also wants to wish Jackie lots of luck as she bikes Mackinaw this weekend on May 17th with her husband.

  1. On January 15, 2010, Romel Joseph, a professional violinist, arrived at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida after being severely injured in the devastating Haiti earthquake. For more than 18 hours, Mr. Joseph was trapped under the rubble of his music school before being rescued. With both legs shattered and an arm broken in the earthquake, Mr. Joseph spent three months recovering in the hospital, with beliefs that he would never play the violin again.

Romel’s life has been extremely difficult. Despite being blind since a young age, Mr. Joseph continues to work tirelessly for the children of Haiti through the gift of music.

Recently, Mr. Joseph was in Toledo as part of the Friends of Music Education for Haiti fundraiser. While on the flight to Toledo, his filling fell out, causing him pain. His first visit to an American dental office was to Frankel Dentistry.

We would like to share a brief excerpt from a very heart-warming letter we received by Romel’s friend, Cecilia Johnson, thanking us for the services we provided to Mr. Joseph. Being able to help people who are in need is  just one of the reasons we love what we do!

    Friends of Haiti

I want to sent a huge ‘Thank You’ for helping my friend, Romel Joseph, who was in the area fundraising for his Haitian school and music program. Your willingness to take a look at him on such short notice and to provide him a temporary filling and an X-Ray to take home free of  charge was a gift that filled my heart beyond description.”

Now fully recovered, the Julliard graduate is thankful to be able to play the violin once again. Now sit back, relax, and enjoy the beauty of  Romel Joseph playing the violin.

     One.

    Your Health

Crooked teeth are a challenge to keep clean. Problems with tooth brushing and flossing may lead to decay and gum disease. A healthy mouth promotes a healthy body.

    Two.

    Your Attitude.

The way your teeth bite together can cause a number of issues.  Jaw pain, headaches, even sinus complications have been related to dental occlusion. Chronic pain and a less than cheery mien are unfortunately often paired.  A lousy attitude might literally bite.

    Three.

    Your Smile.

A smile begets a smile. Hiding crooked teeth is sometimes just the beginning. Misaligned teeth often lead to receding gums and loss of tooth structure at the gum line, decreasing the likelihood of welcoming the world with a smile.

  1. Needing her wisdom teeth removed, Amanda first came to Dr. Frankel’s office two years ago.  Immediately upon walking into the Talmadge Road office, she loved everything about it. From the girls up front to her hygienist, Jess, her entire experience was nothing short of amazing. Even two  years later, every time she visits her Frankel Family, she feels extremely comfortable.

Amanda is a 2009 graduate of Sylvania Northview High School. She attended the University of Toledo where she majored in psychology. She enjoys reading and traveling. Today, she works in a small office doing secretarial work as well as nannies for three young children.

  1. 10 year old Cimram and 7 year Siona are sisters who attend Maumee Valley Day School. Aside from school, they enjoy playing piano, field hockey, and basketball. But more importantly, these two love Dr. Frankel! Watch them in action as they sing our jingle!

  1. Not only is Charles Buckner part of the Frankel Family, he is a first generation techie. Born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Charlie served our country as a member of the Airforce from 1954-1958,  spending time in Japan, Germany, and Turkey. After his military duties were served, Charlie attended Trine University in Angola, Indiana on the Korean GI Bill. At Trine University he majored in Engineering because he knew that those jobs were in high demand.

After receiving his degree, Charlie and his young family moved to the Baltimore, Maryland area. During the mid 1960s, Charlie worked on the Saturn Launch Vehicle, which helped propel the spaceships that were part of the Apollo Moon Program.  Additionally, he worked for Control Data Computer Corporation which was a super computer firm that competed with IBM, Honeywell, and RCA during the 1960s and 1970s. While working for Control Data, Charlie helped engineer the first computerized reading machine. Charlie also worked for Westinghouse in Baltimore.

After retiring, Charlie and his wife, who is an artist, moved to Denver, Colorado. Now, however, Charlie and his wife live in Toledo. They moved here to be closer to his daughter and their family. And we are glad he is here and a member of our Frankel Dentistry Family!
