  1. May is Family Wellness Month AND Mental Health Month.

Your physical health is just as important as your mental health! This month we are sharing healthy habits to encourage a healthier lifestyle for you and your family!

    1. Get outside! A little summer sunshine can go a long way. Chances are you’ve spent the winter tucked away and Vitamin D deprived. Take a family walk or bike ride in the evening, visit a new park or trail, walk the dog daily, and be sure to take in the sunshine and fresh air.

    1. Try a healthy new recipe. Pick a night to cook a healthy meal with your family. This is a great way to spend quality time together while still being productive. This is also an opportunity to teach children the importance of a balanced diet and trying new foods.
    1. Practice mindfulness. This is an opportunity to help your children understand the importance of mental health. Simply reflect on the day you’ve had or situations which have left your little ones with certain emotions. Help them discover “why” they feel the emotions they do. Also, try a five minute meditation or positive affirmations. Encourage your children to highlight their favorite things about themselves to promote self esteem!
    1. Find a self care routine. Help your loved ones find a way they love to care for themselves, this could be taking time for a skin care routine, workout routine, an oral care routine, or nighttime cooldown routine. This is time for you all to relax yet still be productive towards your health.
Oral care is self care. Three different forms of self care that can help you take care of your mind and body.
Oral care routine, skin care routine, mental care routine.
    1. Practice oral health! A healthy mouth promotes a healthy body. Teaching your kids healthy oral habits at a young age can help ensure a beautiful, life lasting smile. Brush, floss, rinse, visit Dr. Frankel and repeat!
    2. Connect with one another. Good relationships are important for your mental wellbeing. It never hurts to remind your family how much they mean to you and the impact they’ve made on your life.

  2. Sweet summer sun, smiles, and sangria! On Friday April 29th Frankel Dentistry and Frankel and Puhl Dentistry met in one of their favorite places to celebrate a quarter of growth and ownership mindsets! Majestic Oaks is a locally owned winery who offers delicious, fresh beers, wines, and sangrias! Our teams first visited Majestic Oak last summer and immediately fell in love with the atmosphere, beauty, and sangria flights!

This year Drs. Frankel and Puhl treated us to another beautiful day at the winery to spend time out of office with the ones we love to change lives with. This was a chance to meet the newest doctors to join our practice, and fresh, fun front and clinical employees!

Find a workplace you love! Both the Toledo and Maumee offices are home to dozens of friendships. As we continue to grow and intermix with one another we build even more relationships and friendships through our careers and passion. Changing lives is even more meaningful when you work with people you love. We are grateful to come together and creating lasting memories like these.

As a 100% employee owned practice, taking time to build culture and meet our fellow owners is important to us. We all  work together as a team not only to create positive experiences for patients and serve our community, but to build our practice!

A special thank you to the amazing Toledo local photographer Kurt Nielson for taking the time to come out and capture the friendship behind Changing Lives, Majestic Oak Winery for allowing our practice to take over your beautiful grounds, and Lulu Fare for amazing snacks and sweets.

Always Better. Serve All. Gratitude. Encouragement. Trust. Owner Mindset!

  3. It is National Children’s Dental Health Month. https://www.aapd.org/about/about-aapd/news-room/latest-news/a-national-childrens-dental-health-month-letter-from-aapd-president-dr.-donly/

The doctors, healthcare providers, and staff at Frankel Dentistry celebrate parents who bring in their children as soon as the first tooth pops through and continue every six months.

Children coming in early for dental visits enjoy improved dental health. We make it fun at Frankel Dentistry. For a quick child’s eye-view check this video of our office. You will be in good company. It has over nine million views!

Kids love visiting our office because we make it fun. Parents can make dental home care fun by letting children select their toothbrushes, teaching them to brush, and brushing with them. There are several toothbrushing songs/videos to keep children brushing for a full two minutes.

Another great way to motivate your young tooth brusher is charting daily brushing. The folks at Frankel Dentistry created a chart for you to print out.

Remember, it takes 90 days to develop a new habit.

  4. Being located only a mile South from the state line and beautiful Michigan farm lands, Frankel Dentistry is no stranger to farmers and their families. However, this chilly December afternoon, we had a visitor we’ve never seen before.

It was a calm day in the office just like any other. Our front desk receptionist welcomed patients as something odd caught her eye. “Maybe, I’m just seeing things” she thought to herself, when once again a red flash dashed across the glass office door.

A comedy ensued. The patient had no idea her rooster had hijacked a ride with her to Frankel Dentistry. Once alerted, an event mirroring the keystone cops of yesteryear began. The escapee rooster’s owner, Dr. Greiss, Madison, and Megan were zigzagging across the parking lot. The clever bird had the edge for longer than one might hope. Eventually cornered and corralled, the rooster was defeated but safe. The now seasoned dentist, hygienist, assistant, and patient returned to changing lives a smile at a time through dentistry.

Frankel Dentistry has offered the best dental experience for 75 years. It is easy to see why they have been awarded the Best of Toledo Dental by the readers of City Paper for 11 years. They are more than dental professionals. They are family, friends, and when needed farmers.

  5. Tis the season!

Giving Tuesday is a newer holiday that originated in 2012 to encourage people to do good.

This holiday falls on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving. Giving Tuesday is the kick off for the giving season!

As you know, Frankel Dentistry loves spirit days. Meaningful spirit days are even more remarkable! This year our office participated in CrazZzy Sock Day to kick off our gifting season. Giving back to the community is especially magical during the holidays. All December we will be collecting new, unused socks to be donated to a local non-profit here in Northwest Ohio!

Hannah’s Socks is a non-profit organization whose mission is to donate socks to the less fortunate in homeless and domestic violence shelters. Did you know that socks and undergarments are the most needed, yet least donated items? Together we can make a difference.

We have been changing lives a smile at a time since 1946. We want to continue to serve through beautiful smiles and warm toes! Supporting local and giving back to those in need has always been important to us. We are grateful to come together and serve all in our community in a variety of ways.

You can learn more about the Hannahs Socks mission at https://www.hannahssocks.org/

  6. Gratitude Always. It has been quite a year for Frankel Dentistry. We have watched our spirits, team, and leadership grow immensely. With gratitude being one of our Core Values, we find it even more imperative to express gratitude for the big and small during this season.

One thing we can always be thankful for is our team.

Not only do we have the best patients, but the best team.

A positive workplace encourages productivity and inspires drive in all individuals. I’d love to thank our team for being focused on their goals, providing the best patient care, exercising strong communication, and always going above and beyond in their department as well as others.

We are grateful to build and grow with a driven, dedicated, and passionate team. Changing Lives a Smile at a Time is even more meaningful with people who uplift you and push us to be the best! So to all of our Frankel Dentistry teams -thank you, we are grateful for each and everyone of you.💙  Happy Thanksgiving!🦃

  7. November is National Mouth Cancer Awareness Month. Did you know over 300,000 cases rise a year?

There are dozens of habits and behaviors which may contribute to mouth cancer development but we’re here to bring awareness to the signs and help encourage preventative care. Cancer of the mouth may develop due to smoking, poor eating habits, and poor oral hygiene, untreated sores or ulcers and more.

Did you know at Frankel Dentistry during your comprehensive dental exams performed by our doctors, we take the time to look for any signs of cancer. We will work with you every step to ensure we can provide the best care for your needs.

Any dentist will tell you smoking can damage not just your lungs but mouth and throat. As a preventative care suggestion, putting a stop to all tobacco products can help limit the amount of carcinogens you are exposed to. We also advise you to establish a strong and efficient oral care routine to promote a healthier lifestyle.

If you have any concerns regarding your oral health or dental health needs please call our Toledo or Maumee office to schedule an appointment today.

  8. Frankel Dentistry’s Five Top Tips for Dental Insurance Coverage

Dental insurance is a great benefit. Midwest dentist, Dr. Jon Frankel has five tips to best use dental coverage.

    1. Study the plan options during open enrollment and find the plan that best serves your dental health. Make sure there are dentists in your area who accept your plan.

    2. Find a dentist who will do complimentary benefits checks and treatment plan consultations. Understanding your treatment options and insurance benefits helps you gain and maintain dental health.

    3. Schedule your new patient exam and subsequent visits early in the year.

    4. Make sure to schedule at least two well checks or hygiene re-care visits every year. Take care of small issues before they become big problems!

    5. Understand your dental insurance is a great help but behavior is the key to a healthy smile. Brush. Floss. Complete needed treatment as soon as possible.

  9. Frankel Dentistry specializes in general, cosmetic, and restorative dentistry. While Cosmetic Dentistry is one of Dr. Frankel’s passions he also highlights the importance of Restorative Dentistry and the impact it makes on thousands of people each year. Same Day Fixed Implant Dentures fall into this category and at Frankel Dentistry we have changed the lives with this procedure.

Partial edentulism affects a large majority of adults in America. Over 33 million individuals have dentures. Dentures replace missing teeth with prosthetics and restore the size and shape of the original smile. An Implant Denture is a set of prosthetics supported by a titanium post placed in the patient’s mouth. Implant dentures offer convenience, natural function, natural looking smile, and longevity. Fixed implants preserve the bone and maintain facial features, patients are able to talk, chew, and smile just as before with their natural teeth. Only your dental professional will be able to detect your dentures. If you maintain proper care and stay up to date with you recare appointments your implant dentures can last a lifetime.
