    1.) Check-It!

It is time to get a 6 month check-up, get it before you travel to ensure that your mouth, teeth and gums are healthy and that you have a beautiful Frankel Smile in all those pictures that you take. Also, by getting your routine check-up you ensure that your mouth is healthy and that small problem are taken care of before they become big issues. It is also a great time to ask Dr. Frankel about how to avoid travelers breath or if you have any mouth sensitivity while traveling at a high altitude.

    2.) Pack- It!

Don’t forget to pack your oral hygiene care. Your list should include: toothpaste, toothbrush (manual or electric- if electric don’t forget your charger), dental floss, mouth rinse, sugar free gum, plastic baggie (you don’t want your toothpaste exploding all over your clothes), disposable toothbrushes if you are traveling to a place where the water is not safe, and a toothbrush cap. **Special note about those caps- Yes, they protect your bristles, but they also breed bacteria. Be sure to take the cap off your toothbrush once you arrive at your destination.

    3.) Swish-It!

Caught somewhere without your toothbrush? Swish your mouth with water.

    4.) Share-It!

Pack healthy snacks to share with your family while traveling. Bring fruits, veggies, nuts instead of candy bars and soda.

    5.) Know-It!

Dental emergencies happen. Have a plan in case something occurs. Many times it is as simple as asking your hotel concierge for a recommendation in case of an emergency. This video is great for special tips in case of an emergency. Be sure to click it and watch!

    Now aren’t those puppies cute?

Bread, born, and sold in Wauseon, Ohio, these adorable Labradoodles have a great connection to Frankel Dentistry and our hearts. Maggie Lauderdale always knew she wanted to breed dogs. 10 years ago, the opportunity finally broke through, and she never looked back. But, why labradoodles? Because they have some many strong qualities: They are trainable, intelligent, allergy friendly, non-shedding… the list goes on.

Maggie also is able to breed these adorable dogs to be anywhere from 15-70 lbs, to fit each and every persons needs and desires. And talk about a variety of colors. You can choose from chocolate, black, red and cream.

But, yes, there is more. Labradoodles make great therapy dogs. Maggie knows her worldly talent is to raise good dogs. And worldly she has become. Since starting Lauderdoodles, Maggie has placed puppies in most US States and internationally. That’s right you can find her puppies in Germany, Turkey, and Abudabi.

So, thinking about wanting a puppy? Maggie has a very thorough process. The first part is a brief interview, allowing her to know that these puppies are going to good, loving homes. Secondly, be prepared to pick the size and color of  your puppy and then wait. Once a puppy with your size. color. and gender preferences is born, it must then go through training when it is 12 weeks old. Training lasts 4 weeks and is a custom training program  specified for each individual family. The family also receives written training instructions and a CD with lifetime support.

And as for Maggie, she is a wonderful, caring mother who even recently brought her adult son to Frankel Dentistry. But don’t hear it from us, watch this amazing testimonial from Maggie herself.

  3. Snowy Frankel Dentistry

    Snowy Frankel Dentistry

Dark. Cold. Gloomy. Snowy days are now but a thing of the past.

It’s finally here! SPRING! As many of us dedicate this time to dusting off the winter cobwebs, opening up the windows, planting flowers, and other forms of spring cleaning, it is also a great time to reevaluate our habits. This time of the year is perfect to begin healthier patterns and changes to take us into summer feeling and looking our best. Here are 5 ideas brought to you by Frankel Dentistry to pump up your oral health.

    1.) Throw it out!
While cleaning out the junk during your spring cleaning binge, pitch that toothbrush. Now is the perfect time to replace it with a fresh one to keep your mouth clean this spring. Besides, we all know we should be replacing our toothbrushes every 3 months anyway!

Manual or Electric? The choice is yours!

    2.) Perfect Your Routine!
We all try to step up our exercise game this time of year, getting our bodies ready for those swim suites. But why not step it up on the flossing side of things too, ensuring your smile is picture perfect as well. Maybe you are not the world’s best flosser— We get it. But this spring is different. This spring you want more. This spring is a time of new habits. Challenge yourself to floss every day for the next month. By then it will be an easy part of your routine and your mouth will thank you.

    3.) Eliminate the soda.
Honestly, what is more thirst quenching than an ice cold glass of H2O on a warm spring day? Besides, eliminating that extra sugar will not only do wonders for your smile but also your figure. Need an added twist? Infuse a little fresh fruit in it for some added flavor. Not enough, unsweetened iced tea and plain black coffee are other beverages choices that will keep your teeth healthy.

4.) Don’t forget to add your family in your new habits.
Others tend to keep us accountable. Why not include your loved one’s in on your new routines? Besides, we love families at Frankel Dentistry!

5.) Schedule your spring dental cleaning at Frankel Dentistry.
Spring is a great time to get those chompers cleaned and any treatment completed and ready to showcase a healthy beautiful smile all summer long.

2.) Gingivitis vs. Periodontal Disease? What’s the difference? Gingivitis is an early stage of gum disease that starts to impair the teeth and gums. Periodontal disease is a much more serious form of gum disease, involving inflammation around the entire tooth and can lead to the breakdown of gums, their supporting tissues, and even the bones beneath.

3.) Many cosmetic dentists and plastic surgeons understand that facial symmetry and properly proportionality lead to idea aesthetics. Making your teeth the right size for your face will greatly enhance your smile. Whether your teeth have been worn down from tooth grinding or you were just born with smaller teeth, porcelain veneers can add contour to create the proper proportions.

4.) Sugary candies promote the growth of bacteria in your mouth and add to bad breath problems. Instead, chew sugarless gum. “Gum stimulates saliva, which is the mouth’s natural defense mechanism against plaque acids which cause tooth decay and bad breath,

  5. Floss Card Dilemma To Floss at Work or Not

    Floss Card Dilemma
To Floss at Work or Not

    Escape the Scrape

Proper flossing removes the soft sticky bacterial plaque before it mineralizes into tarter or calculus. Your dental hygienist will be the first to know once you “step up” the flossing. Brushing your teeth at least twice a day and flossing properly minimally once a day will limit the scrape, scrape, scrape of your preventative dental re-care visits.

    Unraveling a Life Line

Bacterial build up in the mouth leads to inflammation. Oral inflammation has been associated with systemic disease. A healthy mouth promotes a health body. Heart disease, stroke, diabetes certain forms of cancer and Alzheimer’s disease have been linked to oral health issues. Proper flossing in combination with tooth-brushing might just be a life line.

Floss Fund. Take it to the Bank.

Regularly scheduled preventative dental visits and proper flossing and brushing lead to financial savings. Caring for small issues before they become big problems and preventative health care at home brushing twice a day and flossing minimally once a day make good “cents!”

    Healthy Match.

Tooth-brushing by itself is not enough. Flossing can not stand alone. Proper brushing at least twice a day and proper flossing minimally once a day leave you with the beautiful healthy smile that both you and your dentist love.

No Kisses from your Misses or Anyone for that Matter.

Bad breath is a deal breaker. The bacteria associated with bad breath hides between the teeth. If not removed with proper brushing and flossing you are sure to miss the kiss.

     One.

    Your Health

Crooked teeth are a challenge to keep clean. Problems with tooth brushing and flossing may lead to decay and gum disease. A healthy mouth promotes a healthy body.

    Two.

    Your Attitude.

The way your teeth bite together can cause a number of issues.  Jaw pain, headaches, even sinus complications have been related to dental occlusion. Chronic pain and a less than cheery mien are unfortunately often paired.  A lousy attitude might literally bite.

    Three.

    Your Smile.

A smile begets a smile. Hiding crooked teeth is sometimes just the beginning. Misaligned teeth often lead to receding gums and loss of tooth structure at the gum line, decreasing the likelihood of welcoming the world with a smile.

  7. Natural Beautiful Veneers

    Natural Beautiful Veneers

    Reason One.

Veneers create a naturally balanced smile. Each tooth designed to ideal proportions following your smile line and defining your individual look.

    Reason Two.

Veneers offer the opportunity to select a tooth shade that enhances your natural coloring.

    Reason Three.

The beauty of an idealized smile created with veneers is all in the design. Attractive, memorable yet completely natural veneers are virtually undetectable. No one will know why, they find your new look unforgettable.

  8. At Jon Frankel Dentistry we love what we do. More importantly, we enjoy helping make our patients have beautiful smiles that they are proud of. However, some of our patients have said that now they have a beautiful smile, they have to literally teach themselves to smile all over again. Below are the Top 5 Tips from Dr. Frankel and his staff to make your smile beautiful in photos!

    SGL_2398 - Copy

1.) Get It Healthy! A beautiful smile is a healthy smile. Correcting cracked, broken, or missing teeth will improve your smile, increase your confidence, and shine in any picture.

2.) Avoid the Double Chin! One of the main concerns when taking a photo is “the double chin.” Double chins come from posture. Slouching or bending your head forward influences the angle of your smile, giving you the appearance of a double chin. To hide it, slightly turn your head or drop your chin so your face isn’t square with the camera.

3.) Work It! A photogenic smile is a confident smile. Surprising to popular belief, many of Hollywood’s finest don’t have perfect teeth. Take Tom Cruise for example. Next time you see a picture of him it is quite obvious that the line between his two front teeth, which should line up with the center of his nose, is off to one side.

4.) Lipstick Can Be Your Friend! The right shade of lipstick makes your teeth look whiter. Blue-based and pink-based undertones will minimize any yellowish tones on your teeth. However, shades that are too dark or too red for your skin tone can detract from your smile.

5.) Practice Makes Perfect! IF you have a big event coming up and want to showcase your smile, practice it! Look at it in the mirror and see how it looks and feels when you hold your shoulders back proudly and strike a natural, unforced smile and hold it for a long time. When you smile gently, your face looks relaxed. Your mouth should be opened slightly and your lower lip will match the curve of your upper teeth.

Often the best smiles have the edges of your upper front teeth gently touch your lower lip. Your cheeks may rise a little bit, but not too much. It’s the opposite of a quick, “excited” smile that makes your eyes squint and your neck muscles tense, which looks awkward in photos.

Now that summer has come to an end, we would love to see some of your best smiling photos! Feel free to tag us in your photos on our Facebook page http://facebook.com/jonfrankeldentistry or on Twitter @jonfrankelDDS #SummerSmile
