Just the thought of a dentist gives you the Heebie-jeebies.

Schedule a tour. Dentistry has come a long way.  Small, cramped spaces have been replaced with a spa like ambiance and caring dental professionals. Seeing is believing. If they are not open for a complimentary tour, it’s not the office for you.

Keeping up with your insurance coverage drives you bats.

Find an office that offers complimentary benefit checks and treatment plan option appointments. Understanding your dental needs and working out an individualized plan is a vital step toward achieving and maintaining oral health. Offices that explore your coverage for you are excellent dental health partners.

It been so long even when you schedule you find a reason to flake out.

Look for reviews online or ask friends and family about their dental provider. The old “scold and lecture” model is out-dated. Find an office that listens to what you want and co-creates a plan to achieve the smile you deserve.

2.) Gingivitis vs. Periodontal Disease? What’s the difference? Gingivitis is an early stage of gum disease that starts to impair the teeth and gums. Periodontal disease is a much more serious form of gum disease, involving inflammation around the entire tooth and can lead to the breakdown of gums, their supporting tissues, and even the bones beneath.

3.) Many cosmetic dentists and plastic surgeons understand that facial symmetry and properly proportionality lead to idea aesthetics. Making your teeth the right size for your face will greatly enhance your smile. Whether your teeth have been worn down from tooth grinding or you were just born with smaller teeth, porcelain veneers can add contour to create the proper proportions.

4.) Sugary candies promote the growth of bacteria in your mouth and add to bad breath problems. Instead, chew sugarless gum. “Gum stimulates saliva, which is the mouth’s natural defense mechanism against plaque acids which cause tooth decay and bad breath,

5.) Have you seen Dr. Frankel’s new reception area? If not, you got to check it out! It is beautiful! Schedule a complimentary consultation today and meet the entire staff.

Three Reasons for a Smile Makeover

    You Would Never Imagine

    Jon Frankel, DDS

    Jon Frankel, DDS

Okay, Dr. Frankel loves creating beautiful smiles. He has done lots of them. His hundreds of dental veneers patients have consistently had the same response to their smile makeovers, “Why didn’t I do this sooner?” But there is more. We have found three surprising benefits as a result of a beautiful new smile.

    Web Wendy

     I am healthier.

A healthy mouth promotes a healthy body. Our cosmetic cases want to keep their beautiful new smiles. They schedule their preventative re-care visits and follow home care instructions. All that brushing and flossing has added benefits. Looking better never felt so good.

    I am happier.

Hiding teeth, you are uncomfortable with, is stressful. Public speaking, photos with family and friends, even meeting someone new is hampered by a multitude of tricks used to obscure teeth. Tight lipped smiles, hands covering mouths and turning away, often deliver an unintended message. These behaviors maybe perceived as distant, uncaring or even deceitful. In reality the culprit is a smile in hiding due to misshaped, chipped, cracked or stained teeth.

In a quick two weeks veneers allow a beautiful balanced smile. The change is dramatic. Smiling is contagious and our cosmetic patients really bring it on. Their happiness is a gift they can not help but share.

     Brenda

    Life simply got better.

When looking good and feeling great things just seem to happen. Smile makeovers are no guarantee but in our experience there seems to be a pattern. Life seems to bless those with an unending smile. Maybe without the constraint of hiding a smile,  there is simply more time to shine.

  1. Finding Your Floss

Five Hints to Keeping It Clean In-Between

    Floss!

    Floss!

    Number One

Tag it on to another habit.

Do you watch the Big Bang Theory every day? Floss during the show. Take something you already do each day and just add flossing. (Doctor Frankel flosses in the shower everyday!)

    Pamela Weitzel Floss

    Number Two

    Choose what you will use.

Get floss you like. Mint flavored, thick or thin there are an endless variety of floss types. Select the one that works for you. Once you have found your match, you will find flossing more enjoyable.

    Jon Frankel Dentistry Floss

    Number Three

    Leave it out.

Out of sight is out of mind. Display your floss. Place it in a beautiful bowl or be a purist and let your floss stand alone. Every room needs the designer touch, floss. At Frankel Dentistry we give patients a business card that holds floss. In your car, in your purse or in your pocket do not leave home without it. Bring it out. Yes, it is time for full floss exposure.

    Number Four

    Say it.

    FullSizeRender(22)

There is strength in speech. Create your own mantra. Ommm, Ahhhh, Floss. Write a rhyme. Floss, Floss. Prevent Tooth Loss. Sing a tune. I’ll floss in the name of love before I break my heart.

At Frankel Dentistry we have a brochure outlining how a healthy mouth promotes a healthy body. Heart attack, stroke and diabetes show a relationship to oral health.

    images

    Number Five

    Seeing is believing.

Take a photo of an edentulous (toothless person) or visit Frankel Dentistry and we will create oral photo of your teeth. Tag the photo with old adage; Only Floss the Teeth You Want to Keep and tack it to your bathroom mirror. The visual reminder will keep you flossing.

  1. Dr. Frankel often says “a healthy mouth promotes a healthy body.”

This statement rang true today when our manager of  dental hygiene, Debbie, came in to work during  her vacation because caring for our dental family is what we do best!

So the next time you see Debbie,

you will know just how much she really cares!

  1. Tooth Brush

Those nasty cold and flu bugs are in full force right now, and the last thing you are probably thinking about is your teeth. But your oral health can still be affected by your overall health. First of all, don’t skip your normal brushing and flossing routine just because you are under the weather, and keep in mind a few helpful tips!

    1.) Drink Your Water

To avoid cavities, Dr. Frankel always stresses the importance of drinking water after your eat. Water increases your saliva flow, which helps fight the bad bacteria that causes cavities. But when you have a cold, a stuffy nose causes most people to breath through their mouth, causing the mouth to become more dry than normal. A dry mouth will allow to keep the bad bacteria in your mouth, possibly creating a cavity.

2.) Brush to Get Medications Off Your Teeth

Most people think that sucking on cough drops all day long will make you feel better. But actually, you are doing damage to your teeth. Most cough drops are loaded with sugar. Just like a hard candy, having a cough drop sit in your mouth could lead to a cavity. Dr. Frankel’s suggestion would be to make sure you are brushing frequently when you are using cough drops to control your cold and flu symptoms.

    3.) Replace Your Toothbrush

Many people don’t think about it, but after each illness it is important to change out the toothbrush. When storing your toothbrush keep it in a place where it can dry completely. During the time, be sure not to share a toothbrush (or any utensils) with others in order not to transfer the germs and virus. Finally, washing your hands several times throughout the day will also aid in not passing your illness on to others.

These are just a few, helpful tips from Dr. Frankel to ensure your oral health stays healthy while you are fighting off those nasty colds and flu.
