  1. Did you know 69% of American adults are missing at least one tooth? Losing an adult tooth can be devastating, not only does it affect your mental health but your physical health as well. Missing teeth can lead to gum disease, bone loss, and more missing teeth.

    Looking for a solution?

Dental implants and implant supported dentures are the best and most permanent way to replace missing teeth. Frankel Dentistry offers partial and full dentures, placed with a titanium root which can be just as strong as your original teeth. This helps prevent bone loss and build confidence in your smile.

The beauty of implant supported dentures at Frankel Dentistry, is the procedure is done in house. We take a 3D scan that allows us to place the implant virtually, in the perfect spot. Once the dental image of the implant is created we can create a guide. The guide allows the implant supported dentures to be quickly and precisely placed.

Within three to four months, the implant or implants will fuse to the bone, and the implant crown, tooth, or dentures can be placed.

  2. There seems to be a lot of confusion regarding prophylactic pre-medicating (taking a prescribed dose of antibiotics) before dental treatment.

Do I need an antibiotic before dental treatment?

At Frankel Dentistry a medical clearance specialist calls the patient’s primary care physician, internal medicine specialist, cardiologist, or orthopedic surgeon to verify if a single dose of antibiotic need be taken minimally one hour or the night before dental procedures.

Medical Clearance Specialist contacting patient’s physician or specialist before appointment.

This once common precaution currently pertains to cardiac patients with restorative surgery to heart valves, a history of infection of the sac around the heart, heart transplant patients, individuals born with unrepaired heart disease, those with hearts repaired with shunts or those with leaky valves. For more information, check: https://www.todaysrdh.com/cutting-premedication-confusion/

    Frankel Dentistry shows the love.

Patients with joint replacement such as knee, hip, or shoulder may or may not require a pre-dose of antibiotic. It varies from one orthopedic surgeon to another. It keeps the Frankel Dentistry medical clearance specialist busy assuring the health of our patients.

We will check if you need prophylactic premedication.

Dental Hygienist, Brittney Gates adds, “Recently we have found many of our long-time patients think that a pre-med is only for anxiety. We would like to remind all our patients with heart issues repaired or not and joint restoration or replacement  to play it safe. Take your pre-med if your doctor recommends it.”

  3. Frankel Dentistry has provided dental care throughout the pandemic.

They maintained a skeleton crew to care for patients with dental emergencies  keeping hospital ER clear and available for the Coronavirus patients.

Once The Honorable Governor Mike Dewine announced the reopening of dental offices the staff at Frankel Dentistry was ready to make the changes necessary to see their patients.

What drives these doctors, healthcare providers and staff to return? We asked them. The replies seem to have a common thread.

I originally looked for a career in healthcare to help others. It is gratifying to guide patients to a better understanding of the importance of dental care. Dental health promotes overall health. It is vital patients keep their smiles healthy not merely for the psychological benefit but for overall health. How could I not be here?

    Got a Sweet Tooth?

Hundreds of pounds of halloween candy is being consumed this season – do you have the will power to eat it in moderation? Before the holiday season is here, make sure to check your healthy habits and understand how all those sweets affect your teeth. It’s also very important to teach children health habits at a young age and educate them on the effects of sugar on their teeth.

Everything we eat and drink has bacteria in it, but sugary sweets contain more bacteria. This bacteria can buildup and cause plaque. When plaque builds up and is not cared for with a good oral hygiene routine, it can cause tooth decay and cavities.

Sugar can be enjoyed in moderation and it’s important to brush and floss your teeth after consumption. Make brushing fun and not a chore — share this video with your children and sing together!

  9. Thirsty? Quench Your Thirst with Water

Stay Cool and Hydrate with Water

    Stay Cool, Hydrate with Water

With temperatures on the rise, the heat can leave you quite thirsty! Recent studies have found that children, specifically 12 – 14 year olds,  are consuming sports drinks unnecessarily. These sports drinks are high in sugar and can lead to obesity and tooth erosion and cavities.

    Drink Water

Children misunderstand the use of the sports drink and consume them socially instead they are intended for endurance training and intense sporting events. Athletes who consume them should be aware of the effects the drinks may have on your teeth and should practice good dental habits.

    SGL_9824R

Energy drinks also contain a lot of sugar and caffeine and are being consumed by middle-and-high school students too frequently.
Help educate children and teach children to opt for water or milk to keep them hydrated.
