The best group of doctors, healthcare providers and staff could be found on December 13, 2019 at local restaurant Carlos Poco Loco. The event was their annual Holiday Office Party.  Nearly 90 strong, they gathered from both the Toledo and Maumee locations of Frankel & Puhl and Frankel Dentistry. This group is caring, kind and fun!

    Great Smiles!

Dr. Frankel is Master of Ceremonies for the annual raffle and gift giving. He was introduced with the Frankel Jingle aptly named “Dr. Frankel wants to see your smile.” Dr. Frankel and Dr. Puhl generously support their teams with several yearly events ranging from kayaking to axe throwing to personal growth seminars. The Holiday Party is the highlight of a year dedicated to serving all with an always better philosophy for this talented group of professionals.

    Two Masters of Ceremonies

If you could capture a feeling from this group and their owner/mentors, Drs. Frankel and Puhl, it would be gratitude. While sharing an enjoyable event with each other including a delicious Cuban and Mexican Food Buffet, they know what makes it worth celebrating, caring for the dental health of their patients.

  1. A Toledo, Ohio dentist shows thanks by giving. Every year for the last 8 years Frankel Dentistry has opened their doors the Wednesday before Thanksgiving offering free dental care on a first come, first seen basis.

Changing lives a smile at a Time

It’s the most wonderful time of the year for a Toledo area dentist…Free Dental Day! On November 27th, the day before Thanksgiving, this Toledo office opens its doors to those in need of dental care free of charge. The event started about eight years ago when Dr. Frankel came up with the idea to give back to his community through his passion for dentistry. “No one should miss out on Thanksgiving because of dental pain, which is why we invite those in need of dental care to take part in this opportunity,” says Dr. Frankel. This is our practice’s holiday tradition.

Frankel Dentistry sets itself apart with generous, caring doctors.

“It is a real honor to be able to help those in need of dentistry who may be a little down on their luck,” said our office manager Zach Duckworth. This year’s Free Dental Day was a huge success! We were able to see 83 patients with a total cost of over $36,000 of treatment. This event wouldn’t be possible without our wonderful staff who all volunteer their time to be apart of this day.

    Serve All

The doctors, healthcare providers and staff feel extremely blessed to have this wonderful opportunity to give back to our community through dentistry. Changing lives a smile at a time is this practice’s passion. “I am so pleased I got up so early this morning because I met everyone I needed to meet to have my smile back!” said a patient. “I am so happy and I feel so much better already. Thank you guys so much. You’re all angels!” she continued.

Beautiful Smiles are priceless at Frankel Dentistry!

Patients participating in Frankel’s Free Dental Day started lining up at 3:30 a.m. Everyone was thankful to Tim Horton’s located on Monroe Street for donating coffee.

  1. Candy Collectors

    Halloween Candy Buyback

We all know that children may get money from the tooth fairy, but did you know that children can receive candy from a dentist? That’s right! During the month of November, kids trade in their Halloween candy for cash during our Annual Candy Buyback. Frankel Dentistry has been offering this opportunity for over ten years. Dr. Frankel wants to remind kids that while Halloween is a fun holiday, eating too much sugar can lead to cavities and unhealthy habits. Candy, as well as hurting children’s teeth, can lead to hyperactivity and weight gain. Our Annual Candy Buyback is an opportunity not only to educate young children on the importance of oral health, but it is a way to promote the significance of giving back and show what power a community has.

Giving Hard Earned Candy to Local Toledo Area Troops

Every year, Dr. Frankel donates all the treats that have been collected to a local group to be sent to Toledo troops serving overseas. This year, we collected over a ton of candy for our troops! This large donation would not be possible without the help of our wonderful community. Frankel Dentistry would like to say a big thank you to the residents of Elmore, Ohio who brought in over 20 pounds of candy and collected no money. Their generosity reflects our shared value to serve all. We are grateful to all those have donated candy to our Halloween Candy buyback. It is hard to believe that this has been our annual event for over 10 years. That’s a lot of sweet community support!

Children Write Notes and Create Cards for our Troops

We would also like to highlight a few of our wonderful children who not only brought in 10 pounds of candy but added a personal touch to their donation. A young boy wrote a letter to be sent to the troops with his large donation. In the letter, the gentleman sends thanks to the troops with his kind words and sweet treats. It reads, “Two Twix for both of your fighting arms, a big Sour Patch Kids for your power, Sweet Tarts for your boldness, and a Reeses Cup for your sweetness.” Talk about a sweet kid.

These Children are Changing Lives a Smile at a Time.

Next year if you are in the Toledo, Ohio area and have excess Halloween Candy. Drs. Frankel and Puhl have a sweet solution. Donate your candy!

  1. Frankel Dentistry has two locations, Toledo and Maumee employing close to 90 dental professionals. If you ask them, they will tell you they wouldn’t work anywhere else. How is that possible?

The clues are obvious from the moment you contact either location. There are systems in place that make serving the community through dentistry efficient and convenient. Once at one of the offices, it is clear, these dental professionals love what they do and know what they are doing.

Frankel Dentistry has defined the best dental experience. They live it.

How is it possible they are always better? Continued training and constant communication through the EOS business model L10 meetings eliminate big problems by addressing small issues. Recently the entire group read What the Heck is EOS?  They made it into a book club activity. Chapters were reviewed and discussed together.

Halloween candy buy back.  The staff and doctors at Frankel Dentistry assist each other. Birthdays and anniversaries are celebrated. Personal goals are shared and supported. Service to others is seen not only by their two free dental days and

It makes sense that the annual State of the Business meeting was filled with laughter. It was fun. Reviewing where they have been, reiterating where they are and forecasting where they are going couldn’t have been a better experience.

Frankel Dentistry is changing lives a smile at a time for patients and each other.

  1. New Englander, Dr. Rebecca Gofman has left the Constitution State for our Midwest Buckeye State! We are thrilled she did. Frankel Dentistry and Frankel and Puhl Dentistry welcome her as a new associate to their Maumee location.

Frankel Dentistry has been serving the Toledo area since 1946. Their always better approach means two locations, convenient hours and the best staff.

  1. Pamela Weitzel

    Celebrating 20 years of dedication

In a world where job changes are frequent Frankel Dentistry is different. Recently an employee retired after nearly 25 years. Several staff members have accrued decades of service through dentistry. This quality of dedicated staff sets Frankel Dentistry apart. Frankel Dentistry is known for the best dental experience because of its people.   Realizing one of their own had a 20 year anniversary the doctors and staff decided on a surprise celebration.

Pamela is a dental hygienist. She has lived in several states and abroad. Her frequent moves gave her distinctive experience in and out of dentistry. In the past, she has been a pharmaceutical sales representative and a personal shopper. Her vocation has always been serving through dentistry. Once she became part of the Frankel family, it was meant to be. She began her Frankel Dentistry career by reminding patients of their recare and later by providing dental patient care as a dental hygienist. Currently, she serves by delivering dental education in treatment consultations and through marketing. When asked why she has stayed so long, Pamela was quick to answer, “I have always enjoyed caring for others. Dental health promotes general health. Dentistry is a perfect fit. It is always getting better through either science, art, psychology or business. Most importantly, I was so impressed by Dr. Sheldon Frankel. He was not only an exceptional dentist but an incredible person as well. He shared his caring wisdom with patients and staff alike. I am still at Frankel Dentistry because of him.”

The celebration was held at Toledo’s Beirut Restaurant. The back room was filled with Frankel Dentistry and Frankel & Puhl staff. It was meaningful and fun to see the woman dedicated to communication become speechless. The night was filled with positive words from staff and Drs. Jon Frankel and Amber Puhl.

It is certain, Dr. Sheldon Frankel is smiling somewhere.

  1. Everyone knows the importance of starting the school year off right.
Picking out the right backpack, getting all the school supplies, and selecting the right lunch box is already on your children back to school list, but what about a back to school smile? Scheduling a trip to the dentist should be on every parent’s summer to-do list. This will not only help your child get the best and healthiest smile but a trip to the dentist office also acts as a reminder of how important oral health is. Taking proper care of your teeth can be hard for children but educating them from an early age will help them ace their oral exam. Here are some tips on how you can help your children’s smile be the best it can be.

Regular Dentist Trips – Maintaining regular dentist visits is important for many reasons. Dental hygienists will keep their mouth healthy and happy. Your dentist will be able to catch or prevent early signs of trouble. They will look for any signs of mouth, head, or neck cancer. Dentists will also be able to give you the best advice for your kid’s specific needs.

Pack the Right Snack – Parents know the importance of a healthy snack choice for their children but educating them on their diet is also important. When it comes time to pack a school lunch, try giving them a swing at it. Letting your kids pack their own lunch can be very rewarding to them. Giving them healthy options to pick from will give your kids a better understanding of what a healthy snack should look like. Avoid any sugary items that could harm their teeth.

Make Brushing Fun! – Brushing your teeth twice a day is very important. Kids should be brushing their teeth every morning and night for at least two minutes. Play a song while your children brush. That way you know they are reaching that two-minute target. Let your kids pick out their tooth care products. Picking their favorite color and favorite flavor can get them excited about brushing their teeth.

  1. Frankel Dentistry has been serving the community through dentistry since 1946 with an always better philosophy. The doctors and staff consider it a privilege to offer the highest standards of dental care.

To better serve their dental family. The two locations Toledo and Maumee have evening and Saturday hours.

The Toledo location has found two exceptional new additions. Drs. Karim and Willis come with broad experience and innate talent and skill. They are a perfect fit for the Frankel Dental family. Their biographies tell it all!

Changing Lives a Smile at a Time

The Maumee location has exciting news as well! To better serve they are expanding. The expansion should be complete by year’s end.

The Maumee expansion will make scheduling appointments more convenient.

    Always Better! Serve All! Gratitude!

  1. Children study their parents, grandparents and siblings. They often “try on” the behaviors and mannerisms of those they love. Attitudes about the dentist are no exception.

Parents watch what you say. You may be causing dental anxiety in your children. Frequently when a parent is “afraid” of the dentist that fear is passed on to the child.

By setting a strong example for your children and teaching them proper oral hygiene, you may eliminate dental anxiety in your children. It is also important to make sure that your dentist is right for your family. Frankel Dentistry is truly “kid-friendly”. Many young patients tell ask their parents when CAN they go to the dentist next.

Neat, clean place. Friendly and polite associates. Brittany did a great job and did everything she could to make my shy son feel comfortable. Dr Hill made sure I understood everything and gave me time to ask questions. The gentlemen that returned my call, I believe his name was Zach helped me get our appointment pushed back from 8:20 am to 10:00 am, so that I was able to sleep in a little longer on my day off. I have 5 kids, work a full time job and part time job so I greatly appreciated that flexibility. Great job team!! Keep up the good work. No complaints at all. LS

Great experience. My kids don’t dread going to the dentist with such a friendly staff and TVs to distract them. LR
