Years back, television sit-coms reflected Pops as sole bread winners. They wore suits and ties. You never saw them cooking in the kitchen or cleaning house. They might don an apron when helping with the dishes after a special meal like Thanksgiving dinner. Dads only did Dad-things like read the paper and carve the roast. Things have changed.
Today’s fathers cook, clean, babysit, change diapers, and grocery shop. They nearly do it all! There is one thing they avoid. According to the call center at Frankel Dentistry, oddly enough, Dads do not schedule dental appointments. The dental appointment scheduling specialists in this mid-western office report wives, girlfriends and mothers seem to be in charge of dental health. It is curious but let’s keep our fathers healthy. Call and make them a dental appointment!
Father’s Day is around the corner. We can keep our “more valuable than ever” Dads healthier by getting them back to the dentist. Dental health promotes overall health. It is especially important during this challenging time to optimize health.
Teeth whitening, teeth straightening, or other elective procedures might sweeten the pot for Pop on his big day. If you have a Dad in need of a dentist. Make him smile. Call a dentist and schedule an appointment for him.
Frankel Dentistry has been voted Best Dentist by the readers of Toledo City Paper for the last 10 years. For a preview of what to expect. Check out the video of long time employee Kenyetta below.
Frankel
Dentistry has provided dental care throughout the pandemic.
They
maintained a skeleton crew to care for patients with dental emergencies keeping hospital ER clear and available for the
Coronavirus patients.
Once
The Honorable Governor Mike Dewine announced the reopening of dental offices
the staff at Frankel Dentistry was ready to make the changes necessary to see
their patients.
What drives these doctors, healthcare providers and staff to return? We asked them. The replies seem to have a common thread.
I originally looked for a career in healthcare to help others. It is gratifying to guide patients to a better understanding of the importance of dental care. Dental health promotes overall health. It is vital patients keep their smiles healthy not merely for the psychological benefit but for overall health. How could I not be here?
Pamela
We
are family. We take care of each other. One of the values at Frankel Dentistry
is “Serve All.” This value has taken on
a whole new life during the pandemic. I am here working to “serve all” just like
I do with my personal family.
Jenny
Helping
patients is my passion. I cannot imagine not seeing them especially now. I get
back so much more than I give. The patients see each new measure of precaution as
an expression of how much we care. I love it!
Britt
I
am not letting my life stop. We have implemented the safeguards and are
available to see our patients with the quality of care they have learned to
expect.
Deb
Caring
for the health of our patients motivates me. Meeting them in the parking lot
and explaining our new protocol is gratifying. I want them to feel safe and
happy. I have seen how we truly do change lives a smile at a time. I would not
want to be to anywhere else.
Meg
A
healthy mouth promotes a healthy body. I am committed to my patients. Frankel
Dentistry is like family and I am happy to see everyone. The response I have
received from my patients is overwhelming. Their gratitude is a privilege. I
feel fortunate to be here.

The
pandemic has brought to light many dichotomies. This is certainly one. Many folks
are staying home to prevent the spread of the virus. Others, such as the
amazing professionals at Frankel Dentistry are offering services to optimize the
health of the community.
Together
we will do this. Be Preventative. Take Precautions. As this dental family in
Toledo, Ohio would suggest, Smile!
Toledo dentist, Dr. Jon Frankel, has served the Toledo community through dentistry with an always better approach since he graduated from dental school in 1992. Frankel Dentistry has been setting the standard for dentistry since 1946 when Dr. Sheldon Frankel opened the doors.
Dr. Sheldon Frankel was innovative. He was the first dentist in Toledo, Ohio to use an electric hand-piece. The doctors, healthcare providers and staff at Frankel Dentistry are grateful to continue changing lives a smile at a time with this always better philosophy.
Dr. Frankel has gone the extra mile to place HEPPA 13 filters throughout the both offices, Maumee and Toledo, as well as has had UV lights installed in the furnace and duct work to mitigate the COVID-19 virus.
These offices follow the infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). They closely follow these agencies so that they are up to date with any new rulings or guidance. Their infection control procedures are current and adhere to each agencies’ suggestions.
To keep their dental family safe, there are some changes. Here are some of the changes they are putting in place according to Dr. Frankel and Dr. Puhl.
Our office will communicate with you beforehand to ask screening questions. You will be asked these same questions again when you are in the office.
We have a hand sanitizing station that we will ask you to use or we may request you wash your hands when you enter the office.
We will take your temperature before your appointment.
Our reception area will no longer offer magazines and children’s toys. These items are difficult to clean and disinfect.
Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing.
Call the office upon arrival. We will come out to get you.
Please wear a mask when arriving for your appointment.
Please do not bring anyone else with you to your appointment.
Our office will continue to use rubber dams for your protection, which now is mandated by the CDC and ADA guidelines.
It is good to know that there are those stepping up to the challenges of our new normal. Dr. Frankel and Dr. Puhl know what to do and how to do it.
They really are changing lives a smile at time in Toledo.
Facing quarantine as a nation is a challenge. A Toledo, Ohio dental office employs nearly 90 people. Most of them are confined home while a skeleton crew of professionals are serving those with dental emergencies. These Frankel Dentistry front-line professionals are keeping the hospital emergency rooms clear for Coronavirus patients. What are their stuck-at-home co-workers doing while stationed indoors?
Patients know that the Doctors, Healthcare Providers and Staff at Frankel Dentistry are an energized group. We were wondering how these high-powered professionals were doing while safely tucked into their homes. It might not surprise you that they continue to be quite productive.
Olivia, a Dental Hygienist, has become a professional house painter. She has completed three rooms to perfection. After the liberation, one can imagine she will have lots of friends asking for her to help them with a fresh look for their rooms.
Jenny, also a Dental Hygienist, has completely redecorated several rooms in her house. They are simply gorgeous.
Sarah, the beautiful smile when you walk in the office, is raising chickens. Get your egg order in, as you know everything Sarah does, she does well.
Danni, our Front Desk Guru, may be in the next issue of Lawn and Garden, she has created an amazing antique door/trellis. She is our new official yard artist.
Deb, Dental Hygiene Team Leader, has become a minimalist. She is now our closet organizer extraordinaire. Ask her for tips!
Pamela, Dental Concierge, has grown a green thumb. She has harvested four batches of delicious and nutritious sprouts. She recommends the salad sprout mix due to the tangy hint of radish, but also enjoys alfalfa and mung bean.
Danielle, part of our financial team, is still at the office part time so we can care for those with dental emergencies and keep the emergency rooms clear for COVID-19 patients. Her days off she is Grandmother/Babysitter and loving it.
Karen, Dental Hygienist, is known for her industrious nature. She is booking it. She has logged in hours of required Continuing Education Units, has been working out daily, knitted an afghan and is keeping her garden weed-free!
Mel, an EFDAs and a Dental Assistant Team leader is a perpetual multi-tasker. She is breeding and raising show livestock while home schooling her children. She and her husband own KNG Show Lambs.
Lindsay, a Dental Hygiene Team Leader and EFDA is enjoying time with her toddler. She also has designed and decorated an amazing nursery for her June baby.
Frankel Dentistry is a special place. They live their values at work and at home. It is more than a dental practice. Patients and the doctors, healthcare providers and staff consider it their dental home.
If
you or someone you know has a dental emergency.
Frankel Dentistry is open in Toledo and Maumee.
Please stay safe. Wear a mask. Wash your hands. Don’t forget to brush and floss.
Toledo has an unspoken treasure. It is not the Toledo Museum of Art, the Toledo Symphony, or the Toledo Zoo. It is not the Toledo Mudhens or the Toledo Walleyes. It is something you sense but cannot explain. It’s the people. Frankel Dentistry is a perfect example of what puts Toledo, Ohio on the map.
Since 1946 Frankel Dentistry has served the community through dentistry with an always better approach. During the current pandemic this commitment to others continues. The caring doctors and staff recently received this message.
“I would recommend Frankel Dentistry to all my friends, family members, and anyone in need of a good honest clean dentist. They were able to help my husband on a moment’s notice, they accepted cash payment. They are handling the overflow of dental issues coming from the hospital due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Frankel Dentistry went above and beyond for my husband, and honor veterans. I thank you very much for your time, you changed my husband’s life.” Amber S
One of the things that sets Frankel Dentistry apart from the rest is the people. The doctors, staff and healthcare providers go, as Amber stated, “over and beyond.” It is their culture. They wouldn’t have it any other way.
At Frankel Dentistry, the main goal has always been to protect the health of their patients, their team, and their community. During the COVID-19 pandemic they are seeing patients with dental emergencies only.
If you have a dental emergency, please contact them and they will take care of you. If you’re in dental pain, please call or text them.
At Frankel Dentistry as in Toledo, Ohio, it is the people. They are Changing Lives a Smile at a Time.
Communication and collaboration are hallmarks of a Toledo, Ohio Dental Practice, Frankel Dentistry. The owner/dentist, Dr. Jon Frankel found a clever way to check in on his doctors, healthcare providers and staff in the time of COVID-19.
At Frankel Dentistry, the main goal has always been to protect the health of their patients, their team, and their community. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic they are seeing patients with dental emergencies only.
If you have a dental emergency, please contact them and they will take care of you. If you’re in pain, have a broken tooth, or an abscess, please call or text them.
They want to keep dental emergencies out of the hospital emergency rooms to serve those with the coronavirus.
Both
locations Toledo and Maumee are open to dental emergencies. There are doctors,
healthcare providers and staff to take care of you in case of a dental
emergency.
This means many of the Frankel Dental family are home in self-isolation. Dr. Frankel made sure each and every employee was well via ZOOM last weekend.
Dr.
Frankel and Dr. Puhl exemplify Frankel Dentistry’s values.
Serve
All – Always Better – G.E.T.
If
you have ever visited Frankel Dentistry you must have imagined this tele-call
was filled with laughter. One of the highlights was a dental hygienist hiding
under her bed covers so her children would not find her! She has been enjoying
constant contact with her kids but missed her dental family as well.
March
6, 2020 was the Best of Toledo 2019 Party. It is an annual event considered by
many to be the
party of the year. Walking through the event there was an especially sunny
group of smiles. Frankel Dentistry had reserved 5 full tables. One might think
seeing each other week in and week out would be enough, not for the Frankel
Dentistry crowd. They enjoy each other’s company in and out of the office.
One wonders how Frankel Dentistry sets itself apart. “It’s our people”, confides Toledo, Ohio dentist, Dr. Jonathan Frankel at a recent Best of Toledo Party. Frankel Dentistry has been voted Best of Toledo by the readers of City Paper for 10 consecutive years. Frankel Dentistry has two locations evening and Saturday hours and doctors, healthcare providers, staff and patients that can’t help themselves but smile.
Dr. Puhl from the Maumee location added, “We are changing lives a smile at a time. Our employees are considered family. It’s in our culture. They get it. They want it. They have the capacity to do it.”
What one notices is how much these folks like each other. They exude a fun- loving caring nature. Brittany Parran, a dental hygienist at the Toledo location believes it is their values, “We put out heads together to define what is important to us. It went quickly, we knew.”
Always Better. Serve All and G.E.T. (gratitude, encouragement, thankfulness) are the values of this Ohio dental practice and it shows. Human Resources and Maumee location manager, Dana Hooper shared, “We hire, promote and fire based on our values.” “We are doing what we love with people we love”, added Pamela Weitzel, a twenty-year employee.
Frankel Dentistry is home of the best dental experience. They know how to give patients a healthy beautiful smile from the inside out. It’s enough to make you smile!
February is American Heart Month and you don’t have to be in a relationship to celebrate, just make a doctor’s/dental appointment. The month of February acts as a reminder to check in with our health, especially our heart health. That’s right, February isn’t just all about showing your partner that you care, but it is a time to show yourself some care.
Heart disease can happen at any age and comes with many risks such as suffering a heart attack, stroke, or even death. Heart disease or cardiovascular disease is one of the top leading causes of death in our Nation. In fact, according to the Heart Foundation, it is the number one leading cause of death for women in the United States. This statistic is scary, but heart disease can be prevented.
Educating those who are at high risk of heart disease will better increase their chances of beating it. The staff at Frankel Dentistry knows that there is a direct correlation between a healthy mouth and a healthy body. We promote the importance of a healthy body every day with all of our patients. But we decided to do more this past Friday.
On Friday, February 8th, the Frankel Dentistry staff took part in the American Heart Associations National Wear Red Day. This campaign is part of their Go Red for Women cause that raises awareness about cardiovascular disease in women. Wearing red on the first Friday of February promotes the important topic of cardiovascular disease in women and how we can avoid it. The Frankel Dentistry staff wore red and took part in this conversation.
Heart disease is one of the leading causes of death in the United States. It is also one of the most preventable, so do your heart a favor and get your appointments and checkup in this month.
Toledo, Ohio has it all. A small town vibe which means no traffic and friendly folks. A world class art museum, a stellar symphony, the Midwest’s finest metro parks, a great zoo, professional baseball and hockey teams and a dental office that cares about patients mean this city lives it’s motto, You Will Do Better In Toledo!
By the way, who’s a dentist’s favorite patient…a hockey player! It is not just the sports guards. It is an exciting sport with exceptional athletes. What could be more fun?
This past weekend, Dr. Frankel and Dr. Puhl took their group to enjoy one of Toledo’s best activities; a Toledo Walleye hockey game! Spending time with CatTrick and Spike brought this dental office together. Doctors, healthcare providers and staff filled an entire section with the best smiles. Taking a group of dental employees to a hockey game might seem strange, right? But not to Dr. Frankel. Supporting and enjoying the Toledo area and each other is what this dental practice is all about.
At Frankel Dentistry, they consider their employees part of their family. This bond is seen by the get-togethers organized by Dr. Frankel and Dr. Puhl. Past activities have included kayaking, ax-throwing at Axe 419, staff dinners, and attending ProMedica’s Summer Concert Series featuring Diana Ross.
The time they spend outside of the office is always fun. They eat. They laugh. They dance. They smile. They celebrate. But most importantly, they have a good time. The fun times and stories are shared with families and friends. Frankel Dentistry has been making great memories since 1946.
Have you been thinking about a smile makeover, but don’t know where to start. What about veneers?
Did you know that Dr. Frankel has changed the lives of hundreds of people with a smile makeover using veneers! He is truly Toledo’s smile makeover expert.
What are Veneers?
Veneers are beautifully crafted, custom-made porcelain sheaths that restore crooked, malformed, or damaged teeth, allowing for a balanced, enhanced and unique smile while restoring strength and functionality.
Why Veneers?
Many people consider veneers because they provide a natural-looking tooth appearance; gum tissue tolerates porcelain well; porcelain veneers are stain-resistant; the color of a porcelain veneer can be selected such that it makes dark teeth appear whiter; veneers offer a conservative approach to changing a tooth’s color and shape because they generally don’t require the extensive shaping before the procedure that crowns do, yet offer a stronger, more aesthetic alternative. Call today to schedule a complimentary consultation to learn more.
Why Frankel Dentistry?
Placement of such small, porcelain materials takes much skill, precision and artistry of a well trained cosmetic dentist, like Frankel Dentistry. With his expertise, he will quickly be able to fix such problems as worn enamel as well as chipped, discolored, misaligned, irregularly shaped, cracked, or uneven teeth, giving you a beautiful, natural-looking smile that you would like to show off to all your friends and family.
Beautiful, perfect teeth in just two weeks, probably sounds too good to be true…but, with porcelain veneers and Dr. Frankel’s eye for detail, Frankel Dentistry can create a total smile miracle in just a few weeks. In fact, many patients wish they had their smiles changed sooner. Call Frankel Dentistry for a complimentary consultation today.
What to Expect?
In just three short appointments with Frankel Dentistry, you will have your new smile.
First, you will come to our office for a consultation. Here, the Frankel Dentistry staff will discuss the different options available to you. We will also take x-rays and go over a treatment plan. Cosmetic digital imaging is also provided to aid you in your decision-making process. If your teeth and gum tissue is disease-free. Impressions will be taken to create a wax mock-up of your new smile.
Next, during your second visit, Frankel Dentistry will prepare your teeth by filing off about a ½ millimeter of enamel. To avoid the minimal discomfort, you will be given a local anesthetic. Frankel Dentistry staff will place temporary veneers over your teeth. You will leave with a beautiful smile.
Two weeks later, your veneers will be ready. You will come in for a final appointment. Then, each shell is secured to your teeth with cement. Once finished, the Frankel Dentistry team will review the care process and you are free to leave with your new smile!
