  1. National Smile Power Day

Smile! It is good for you.

June 15th is National Smile Power Day! Smiling is such a simple act that has a lot of health benefits. Here are some reasons why you should be smiling not just today but every day.

    Reduces stress

You have probably heard about the negative effects that stress causes your body. Smiling is a great way to reduce that harmful feeling. By forcing yourself to smile you are telling your body to release endorphins. These are the body’s natural feel-good chemicals that tell our body to be in less pain. So the next time you are feeling stressed out or overwhelmed, just remember to smile!

    Lowers blood pressure

As you just read, endorphins are our natural feel-good chemicals that can reduce our stress levels. When we are stressed, our blood pressure rises and can cause damage to our bodies. The physical act of smiling causing our endorphins to rise which can lower one’s blood pressure. Maintaining a healthy blood pressure level can lead to an overall healthy body. Keep smiling and keep that blood pressure down.

    Makes us attractive

People are drawn to a natural smile. It creates an open and positive feeling that is inviting to others. When we don’t smile we can look tired or worn out, making us seem unapproachable. Put a smile on and test it for yourself.

    Makes us feel happy

The physical act of smiling tricks our brains into thinking we are happy. The muscles involved with this action tell our brain that humor is occurring which can then create actual feelings of happiness. Even a forced smile tells our brain to be happy. So the next time you are feeling down, slap on a smile because your brain won’t know the difference.

Smiling is a powerful tool. It can affect our mental health by sending a message to our brain and letting us know that “Everything is okay.” Our physical health can be improved with this simple action. Make smiling apart of your daily routine and see all the different benefits that it can have on your body.

As always professional & comfortable! I need a bumper sticker that says, “I love my dentist!”

    PR

I have been going to this office for about five years now and they always provide great care. They make sure you are comfortable and they also take your questions and concerns very seriously. I would highly recommend!

I am a past patient visiting from out of state. I had an emergency situation and Tatyana was extremely helpful. She found an appointment for me the same day and made sure she called back to confirm. Dr. Smith was very personable and explained everything that was going on – and helped put my mind at ease.Fortunately, it was nothing but my confidence in the practice that they’re still there for me when I’m in town was completely reassured. Definitely highly recommend!

    ANON

Kind and friendly as always! They seem to really care about you ! Gentle and thoughtful ! That’s me saying that, from a person that never liked going to the dentist . It always brought on so much anxiety till I found Dr Frankel and Karen !

    BA

Great experience starting with the welcome phone message from Zach! We felt comfortable and valued by everyone we interacted with on your team! Thank you for your outstanding service. We look forward to our next visit.

I can honestly say I am no longer afraid of the dentist. After many traumatic experiences at many different dental offices, I decided to try Dr. Frankel’s office because it seems to be the popular place to go. I had a filling fall out that was done by a different dentist and they got me in right away for an emergency appointment. All of the staff were so friendly, they made me feel completely comfortable and went at my pace. I went back for a cleaning and they were very thorough, and again very friendly. I went in today to have a filling replaced, this was the 6th time and third dentist to replace this filling. I was seen by Dr Smith who was so friendly, always smiling, and pulled up my xrays so he could show me what he was planning, as well as why I have been having so many problems with this tooth. He was very patient and took the time to answer all questions I had. He asked me regularly how I was doing, and told me what he was doing before doing it. I walked away feeling good about the work that I had done, and I even had some good laughs!

  1. Our Story

Toledo is more than a great town. It is a town that supports small businesses. Dr. Sheldon Frankel opened the doors to Frankel Dentistry in 1946 knowing this was going to be home. Originally from Manhattan, New York, Dr. Frankel graduated from Ohio State Dental school and settled in with his wife, Toledo native, Ervine Frankel, a beautiful, Toledo Hospital trained registered nurse.

The Frankels grew their family and dental practice. Eldest daughter, Karen, became a dental hygienist graduating from the four year Ohio State Dental School program. Youngest son Jonathan graduated from Ohio State Dental School in 1996 and joined Frankel Dentistry with his father’s same always better attitude.

This is a small business that serves all by giving back twice a year with Free Dentistry and paying it forward by buying back Halloween candy and sending it to local troops. They have defined the best dental experience and continue to perfect it through high tech dentistry and continuous education for all staff from doctors to assistants to call center specialists and insurance verification employees. Frankel Dentistry wants to change lives a smile at a time.

Call for an appointment and be guided to the best dental experience. From the minute you walk in the door until the moment you walk out, you know you and your dental health are their top priority. You will find smiling faces and hear laughter throughout the office.

This local small business remembers it’s roots. A plaque honoring Sheldon Frankel, DDS greets all entering the Toledo location. To serve the community more there are two locations, Toledo and Maumee. Frankel Dentistry exemplifies small business done right. They are grateful to serve by encouraging dental health. You can almost imagine the late Dr. Sheldon Frankel smiling at the progress his small business has made in Toledo, Ohio.

  1. Dr. Jonathan Frankel in celebration of National Tooth Fairy Day is offering some important dental hints. Children with good oral hygiene habits are more likely to enjoy a lifetime of dental health.

National Tooth Fairy day: February 28th is National Tooth Fairy Day and just like the magical fairy, Jon Frankel knows how important it is to educate children on good dental hygiene care. Here are some tips on how to make brushing fun for kids:

    1. Put on some music – Play your kid’s favorite song while they are brushing their teeth. They will love the music and their teeth will be happy to be clean.

    2. Play a game – Sometimes playing a game like “Simon Says” while brushing makes it more fun for children of all ages and helps them learn proper brushing and flossing techniques.

    3. Positive reinforcement – Reward your children for good dental habits. Positive reinforcement urges kids to continue to develop good behaviors. But, be careful; don’t reward them with foods that will damage their teeth, like too much juice or sugar.

    4. Let them choose – Let your child pick out his or her own toothbrush and toothpaste by doing so, you will create excitement with your children about brushing their teeth. Just be sure that the new toothbrush is ADA approved.

My previous dentist always seemed to find something “wrong”, and I needed an overlay, or a bridge, or SOMETHING! I am beyond satisfied with all the staff at this practice and I highly recommend becoming a patient here.

From the minute I walked in the door I was greeted with a genuine happy smile. Brittney also called me back for my cleaning with a big smile. Check out staff very nice and friendly. So nice to go to a workplace where people smile. Also “love” the quick whitening Brittney did on my teeth. The minimal cost is worth the time I save doing it on my own and treatment does a better job than my home whitening.

Everyone was pleasant, upbeat and willing. They all made me feel as though they had been waiting specifically for me. Julia did my cleaning and she was very gentle, kind and thoughtful. Dr. Frankel was very nice and seemed genuinely concerned about my overall dental care. This was my first visit however I do believe I’ve found my dentist and that makes me smile.
